GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The camp is basically a sandy terrain with a large sandy central open area, with a baseball diamond and horseshoe pits. There are several informal campfire pits and one main formal campfire pit area.

For persons not staying in either the Cahiague or Toanche Lodges, a telephone is situated on the outside wall of the Toanche Lodge for emergency, Collect or Calling Card calls.

There is an obstacle course suitable to ages 8 and older.

There are marked trails for exploring and a beaver pond on the property. Wildlife abounds, including some of the hungriest raccoons (led by Willy) you will ever meet.

The camp at its closest point is approximately 300 metres from a fine sandy beach on Georgian Bay.

Please note that the water at the camp does not meet the requirements of Bill 170 and therefore you must bring your own water for drinking & cooking purposes. There is NO water provided at all at Camp Wildman.

CAHIAGUE LODGE (42 bunks)

This is a 42 bunk lodge, with four rooms. It is a split level lodge with 27 bunks arranged in tiers of three in the upper carpeted level.

There is a staircase to the lower levels and an emergency fire escape door and outside staircase. Heat is provided by means of electric forced air heaters and baseboard heaters. A telephone is provided for emergency, collect or calling card calls.

On the mid level is a kitchen, complete with electric stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, restaurant size griddle, (propane operated - you need to bring an older style propane bbq cylinder) large dining table with seating for 16-20 and 12 bunks arranged in tiers of three against one wall. There is a door to an outside deck from the kitchen.

There is also a separate room with 3 bunks arranged in one tier of three leading off of the kitchen.

On the lower level is a common room with a cement floor with tables and chairs to seat approx. 60 persons. There is another refrigerator on this level and a laundry tub and clothes dryer. There is a "burning" board provided for those so inclined to leave a momento of their visit.

There are no indoor washing areas, showers or toilets. Two outside, permanently sited, non flush toilets are situated approximately 15 metres from the lodge.

TOANCHE LODGE (24 bunks)

This is a 24 bunk lodge with two rooms on one level. Heating is provided by electric baseboard heaters. The under floor of the cabin is not insulated and plans to have any person sleeping on the floor in winter time should include a vapour barrier and sufficient insulating material to ensure comfort.

The 24 bunks are arranged in tiers of three along one wall of a large common room with a linoleum floor. There are tables and chairs to seat 30 people. There is a door to an outside deck from this room.

This room has two doors leading to a kitchen which contains an electric stove, two refrigerators, restaurant size griddle, (propane operated - you need to bring an older style propane bbq cylinder), a clothes dryer and a telephone is provided for emergency, collect or calling card calls. There is a door from the kitchen to an outside deck.

There are no indoor washing areas, showers or toilets. Two outside, permanently sited, non flush toilets are situated approx. 10 metres from the kitchen door.

TEANAUSTAYE LODGE (9 bunks)

This is a 9 bunk single room lodge, with the 9 bunks arranged in tiers of three against one wall of the room. There are two doors into the lodge. Heating is provided by means of a wood stove and electric baseboard heaters.

There is a small electric stove and refrigerator.There is a table and chairs for ten persons.

There is no indoor plumbing. Two outside, permanently sited, non flush toilets are situated approximately 30 metres from the lodge.

Kaweechelchen

ADIRONDACK HUTS (3 sided Shelters)

There are four Adirondack hut shelters available. Each has twelve bunks (although eight would be a more comfortable number) arranged in four tiers of three bunks. There is no inside plumbing. Three of the huts are in line and are approximately 50 metres apart, while the fourth is at a completely separate location. Each hut has a picnic table and movable fire pit.

Two outside, permanently sited, non flush toilets are centrally located.

GROOMED CAMPING SITES

Camping areas can accommodate up to 300 persons. There are camping areas of varying sizes available. Outside, permanently sited, non flush toilets are provided at various locations.

Picnic tables and movable fire pits are provided for each site and are liberally provided throughout the camp. Campers are welcome to use dead fall wood wherever it is found.

WILDERNESS CAMPING SITES

There are camping areas of varying sizes available in the back part of the property, which can be reached with a short hike. Get the feeling of real Wilderness camping and yet within the safety of an established camp.
